A portfolio is a very important production for a photographer, it is what I needed to get into my course at the University of Huddersfield and its what I will need to get a job after. I have built a range of different style of imagery throughout my time on the photography degree, however, there is always blank spaces that need to be filled when producing a portfolio. Yes, I have had plenty of experience with still life in the studio, portraiture on location and lots of other qualities; but portraiture inside the studio, I found out, is something I haven't dived into much. I wanted to include portraiture in the studio as it is a good skill to include when showing a body of work to a future employer. Although the studio is closed due to COVID- 19 and then the Easter break, I am lucky enough to have a backdrop, camera and other equipment available to shoot studio work at home; its not perfect but its the best I could use.
I started building the portfolio by photographing my Dachshund, Oscar, against a white backdrop. This is a good start to building a body of work for my portfolio, here are the images that I produced:
This is a good starting point for building a portfolio, I intend on producing the other shoots including people, families and pets together, this will gather a collection of photographs which would show what I can do in the studio with other portraiture; this is a big skill that a lot of clients would ask for, this will show my production value in this subject and prove what I can do as a photographer.
