Peak District Writing Exercise

My recent visit to the Peak District has left me inspired by the beautiful landscapes, deep valleys and towering hills. for my current 'Folklore Zine' project, I wanted to include text to link my photography with, short extracts to show my thoughts and emotions that corresponded with my experience at the location.

"Travelling through cities and high populated areas to find the land of deep valleys and jagged rocks, taking you back in time to the life before mobile phones, televisions and all modern technology. When we are living in a place so full of reminders of the day and age we are in, we tend to forget the beauty and natural growth this world we are currently in, has to offer. Standing on the mountain of rocks, on the top of the world, the wind was singing songs of folklore which we will tell the tales of the place of beauty which we have been, to our children, the land that will be visited and talked about for future generations. When we are trapped inside to protect our loved ones, we only dream of finding perfect places such as this, standing, facing the world as if you are the only person on it."

I think that this text in line with the photographs run beautifully together and will link well in a zine. they express my emotions towards the recent lockdowns and being isolated from everyone that I, and everyone else in the same boat, know. It Also deals with the way nature can effect the body, how it can change an emotion or sense in the world, making me feel special and to tell the tale of the Peak District to others, a story that will be passed down, visited, explored and loved by people yet to come.
